Build Thread 3rd time down the rabbit hole...
Don't know if anyone has ever done this, but hopefully I can say I did it first. The center pod will hinge downward to expose all the dash wiring for future repair.

and we continue... So when I was at the hot rod shop last week I made a deal with my buddy to help him here and there in exchange for use of some shop equipment. So in the last few days I've my hands on a Chevelle, Corvette, Star Chief, Camaro, Hupp, and a Pro Street car. It's been cool.

at this point just start humming the Jeopardy theme... Yep, took those solid aluminum pull knobs and cut 'em down with a drill and belt sander and made my own look. BWHAHAHA.

Left with the parts of the dash curing and drying overnight. Hopefully tomorrow everything comes together. Someone keep your fingers crossed; I need to find a live chicken to sacrifice. Just got an offer to go to the Astros game tomorrow afternoon. Sheet.

I like that speaker box just forward of the shifter. Do you remember where you got that from? A new dash is in my medium term future and I want to get rid of the hack job speakers the PO put in mine.

you have some good fab skills im impressed

I've been around the shop long enough to learn a thing or two. I can also bend sheet metal up badly also. I've killed a 84 SVO Mustang, 85 GT Mustang, 97 1500 Silverado.

Well Thursday didn't go as planned the dash upholstery didn't meet the standard. Endured a small household emergency and the Astros got their butts handed to 'em. By Thursday afternoon, the dash had taken a pretty decent set on the vinyl, but basically lost the day. It hard to see and I'll post more picts later, but the top part is covered in black vinyl. The lower part we are used to is a spray on bedliner. I thought about trying to match the paint, but didn't want to deal with all headache.

Peek a boo view of almost the finished product. I plan to finish tomorrow, but I need to be in Beaumont by mid afternoon. Once I got it like I think it needs to be it'll be a pict heavy post and probably a vid on YouTube.

Came out pretty nice !

Came out pretty nice !

Well its getting there, but be aware not all is as it seems. Both bezels need to be removed and relabeled, probably relighted as well. I removed the fresh air box and heater assembly for the space. I personally don't think it gets cold enough for a heater down here on the coast. Plus I got other vehicles to drive or I'll go to Panama until spring if it is that bad.

I'll get you the actual vendor in a day or two. Until then do a ebay search for Centra pod speakers for jeeps. That should get you close enough to find something you like. I got the Kicker 5.25s, but there are some other size options. I went with Rockville 6.5s on the rollbar.

Scout1067, the eBay vendor I got the speaker pod from was autopartstoys. They'll sell just the housing or a combo unit with several speaker brands and sizes. FYI

I'm not a big heater guy down here either, but I use the defroster quite a bit because of the humidity for defogging the instruments. Works well.

Joy of joys, the annoying vibrating goofy miserable vibrating stock mirror is gone. I used some new old stock and bent it up my way. Full 3 point contact makes for a more robust mount for the trails. Passed the road test with very little vibration.
