But you do realize that a clean engine, like a clean shop, is the sign of a sick mind!:poke:
I thought it was a sign of someone retired, who has alot of free time on there hands.:D

Sorry Pete for taking your build Thread off topic.

Looks very nice! As the official cleaner, scraper off mud and grease and paint m up person, I know that is a lot of work!! :) :notworthy:

Here's part of the mess from when I cleaned my engine:

Yeah I have a mess in my garage to right now. The oven cleaner worked better than any engine cleaner out there.

Luckily there's another Jeep to do in the driveway. :D Oven cleaner and a pressure washer would make quick work of the grunge on just about any engine

I use a 50/50 mix of heated water and simple green. Spray it on with the PW, and let it sit for 15-30 minutes. Then hit it hard with the PW.

I would be concerned about what the oven cleaner would do to plastic, rubber, aluminum etc.

I use purple power with good results - the stuff is actually pretty amazing. Simple Green is a good cleaner as well.

We use simple green a lot at work. It works pretty good but I only had to scrub slightly using the oven cleaner.

I was using the Gunk line of cleaners. Couple different cans and I still wasn't done. One can of oven cleaner and bam, grease gone. In my case I don't have plastic or rubber to worry about. As far as aluminum I used it on the valve cover with no ill affects. Its snowing here today but will by 70 degrees by this weekend. Should be a good week to get some more work done.

I'm glad to hear the oven cleaner worked for you. I've used it in the past on everything and have good luck with it.

Ah looks like the last big paint session. Tomorrow I begin putting it all back together. :image_zpsm6gv7bqi.jpg

Long day in the garage today. I'll explain that all tomorrow in another post. So here's the fruit of today's labor:

Looking good Pete :notworthy:

Well done

Looks real good! Have you looked into having the Laredo seats reupholstered to an original condition? I know their hard to come across any more. I hope my next cj is in more of an original condition, I'm with you on the nostalgic way as I've gotten older. Hard to find one worth keeping that way .
