Paint shop was open today. Wind made it a bit harder than it should have been. Not sure if I like the red yet or not. Anyway you'll notice some accessories hanging from the garage door. The exhaust manifold gets baked in the oven tomorrow. Gotta love Vicki, not only did she Agee to using the oven but she's doing the baking for me while I'm at work.

She is good to me. She said the ovens due for a cleaning anyway. Also said we could do it tonight. So without further to do heres "Cooking Cjs with Vicki and Pete".

Preheat your oven to 250 degrees and place part in oven for 30 mins. And she's right that oven needs a cleaning.

Now Lumpy any good cook knows you have to follow the directions. Step 2 is leave the part cool for 30 min then bake for another 30 min at 400 degrees.



Now I'm sure everyone is dying to see more pics of my oven but I digress. One more cool down and bake at 600 and the paint is supposed to be cured. Hopefully it'll stay like this awhile but only time will tell.

Thanks. For anyone trying this in your wife's kitchen while she's getting her hair done odds are good she'll know you were up to something. Be prepared to ventilate your kitchen. About 1/2 way through the 2nd cook it got pretty hazy in the kitchen. Be careful of the fumes.

I've been relegated to waiting for temps above 50 degrees. Today it hit that magic number and I got a little time to paint again so I can get the engine in. It also gave me a chance to drop in the DUI ignition. :drool:

Looks very nice! As the official cleaner, scraper off mud and grease and paint m up person, I know that is a lot of work!!

Still have to clean the head a bit and finish the red. Then drop the pan and clean and paint it. Supposed to be snowing and in the 30s on Saturday so looks like mid week till I finish painting. At least a little more progress.

Actually he does the really hard work!!
If you go back and look at our '59 build thread you will see pics of him sandblasting a whole frame in the coldest of winters. And that was before we went out west and he was bitten by the "CJ" bug. He did all that work mostly for me. I do what I can, but I am the lucky one!

Anyway, before I read this, I was about to say...................Looooooking good! But you do realize that a clean engine, like a clean shop, is the sign of a sick mind!
