That leaf spring plate won't be bending anytime soon.
Are the U-bolts 5/8" grade 8?
Asking because the plate holes appear larger to except heaver u-bolts.

Yes they are 5/8 grade 8 u bolts I slotted the hole in the plate and need to slot it a little more I had to pull on the u bolt to get them thru the hole. I am also going to add a grade 8 flat washer under some new lock washers before I hit the road

Well Abigail was in the house this morning dying daddy's garage, daddy's garage this morning so this is a good time to measure for the front axle and get the garage cleaned up a little

I like those wheels. Been looking at those for a few years. I like the black ones also. I think if I didn't have original jeep wheels those are what I would go with. Mine are in good condition but are needing some love and powder coating. At least that is the plan.

I really like the original wheels and caps as well I was looking into keeping mine but they weren't original

I saw a set of originals yesterday in my area pretty freshly done with powder coat but I think to much for me. $800 for 4ea. 8 inch

Well I am trying to finish planning and start chopping the front axle and it looks like you cant beat these guys prices i have never heard of them tho

so here is my print Im going to use to machine drill and tap my Dodge flat top Dana 44 knuckle, time to find out if the drivers side was milled at 80 degrees like the chevy knuckle is

You will need the Dodge Flat top knuckle like mine for the high steer to work

Oh boy I think I have my final measurements for the narrow job on the front axle =0
6.25 off the drivers side and 1.25 off the passenger side making for a total of 60 inches WMS WMS and 8.5 from center of yoke to center of passenger spring

Not sure if you've mentioned this or not but even though you have flat top knuckles, you still need to get them machined perfectly flat before attaching the arms. I haven't done it yet but in the research I've done, the friction of the flat surfaces is where the strength lies, otherwise the bolts will sheer if put against an obstacle. I'd hate to see someone lose steering when they needed it most. Just something else to look at our ask people who have been there. Again not me just info I've seen.

Yes everything I have read has said the same thing 90 degrees to the spindle mount and that the mounting surface is what holds the steering arms not the studs. I was looking at mine today and it appears as if mine are were made at 80 degrees instead of 90, I will have to look at this some more, and I have access to a mill that can get the knuckles good and flat as well as very knowledgeable machinist
