Well my axle housing end hockey pucks fit really well they are just barely a slip fit, we have our realtor coming by in a few hours to take pictures and put our house on the market, we have a contract on our new home and a closing day of April 18 =0 so I can't narrow the rear axle til after we move since I can't afford axle shafts with the move

Congrats on the new place. Hopefully you'll have a nice shop there.

Well God spoke pretty clear to us yesterday the new house deal fell thru, we put a lot of effort into making our house nice so we are gonna stay here as we like our house anyway. We were looking at the other one for more space, so back to work on the Jeep I go. I dug out my lockers and gears a minute ago and my little helper helped me measure the axle and housing ends for the narrow job I'm about to do. I am going to call moser in the morning to see if the have a recommendation on how far they want their hobby stock axles to hang past their bearings but if I go with stock Chrysler measurements I will be cutting 5.56 inches a side for a total of 11.125 inches and that will give me 60 inches WMS and a 55 inch housing

Love the helper you have there.

Man - I remember when mine was that age..... seems like a couple years ago. She's now 24 and living outside D.C. 20 years went by FAST. Enjoy the help / company.... this is where memories are made :chug: :chug:

(She wearing her ID badge around her neck?? Earplugs?? Keys to the shop?? LOL )

How did you cut the tube? I used a bandsaw. Once the tube was shorten I purchased a long spline axle shaft and used a cutoff wheel to cut to the correct length.

Clean bevel, nice work!

My trusty makita angle grinder, once I got my cut location I marked the tube all the way around and went after it with the cut off wheel, the axle tube is not as thick as I thought that it would be maybe 1/4 inch wall

Well I started cleaning the inside of my axle real good and decided to use a press to press my bearings and cups in the axle instead of the 3 lbs hammer, so I should have the axle assembled by Monday morning if all goes well, time to start measuring the front axle for its chop
