Haven't checked in on your progress in a while. Congrats on the new place. It'll be a good feeling. Also a good feeling to see the Jeep on all 4s. You've done some nice looking work man.

I've started tear down on mine and have started to notice some pretty funky PO stuff... Turns out, my Dana 44 front had a high steer (of sorts) on it at one time, but the end has been cut off the driver side. The (dropped) pitman arm is hooked to the high steer on the passenger side knuckle. (over the springs) The rod has to go up at an angle to go over the leafs. The tie rod is on the low factory arms (under the springs). It's all slapped together with rather loose rod ends. Starting to wonder how I kept it on the road. So glad to be doing the rebuild.

I probably don't have anymore skill that the PO did, but I'll have the brains to ask for help when I get in over my head. Wish I had your welding skills. I'll be having to farm out my axle work. I have picked up quite a bit on forums while I wait for my budget to catch up to me... lol. Summer sucks. Wife is a teachers aid, no paycheck in summer, and I just get VA disability. Back to "normal" now that school is back in.

Is the high steer kit you posted from ebay the one you used?

Yes I used a high steer kit from ebay, I bought the DOM tubing locally pretty cheap, your Dana 44 used to have its steering arm on top of the drivers knuckle in its original form which had a short drag arm going to the steering box that's why you see the studs up there, so your po mad e your axle match the Jeep cross over set up, I can't wait to get mine on all 4s it's been forever, I only have my welding skills because I was taught it and practiced it, you can also have the same skills learning and practicing

Oh man oh man I am still waiting on housing t bolts to show up since my local parts store doesn't stock them but she is on all 4.........

yes I am.... im trying to figure out what I can sell and how much ot i can work to get it the last little bit

Yeah when it comes to the jeep sometimes sacrifice is needed. I don't get any OT either. I've been holding off buying anything for awhile because I don't want to liquidate later any of those fun items. Most of mine will just have to come out of the savings :mad:
 
While I agree with that philosophy, the one o have in mind just sits - has for years. Won't increase much more in value, and if I convert it to Jeep stuff, it'll get used like crazy. Besides - I have a couple others similar........ so If I can move it, things will speed up considerably :chug:

Got my axles in, I'm having to trim an 1/8 of an inch of them to get them to stop rubbing the center pin, had to stop that to because my grinder burnt out.

Well let's see, sign on the new house Monday morning, have to be moved completely out by Wednesday and have gotten almost nothing cleaned on the garage, this is going to suck, I do have the Jeep on all 4 right now but I'm so busy I don't have time to even roll it out of the garage right now so I guess next post will be of it moving to the new house

felt so good to be able to roll it out of the garage, we still haven't closed on the new house, so we haven't moved still, buyer having troubles with their house sell so we are on stand by til we can get all this :dung: straightened out. =( My wife asked me the other day what it would cost to paint the Jeep =0 so if all goes well I will have some play money to get the Jeep driving and maybe enough to get a hard top and doors on it
