Alaskia Off Roar Warriors

Alaskia Off Roar Warriors
Well, the misery of these weekly round ups is over. The show "Off Road Warriors" is finally over, at least for a while. The final episode was rather boring, more mud, rain, river crossings and occasional foolishness from folks that you wouldn't expect to be foolish. There was some rock crawling, high hill driving and finally in the end a 200+ mile mad dash up the Dalton Highway of Ice Road Trucker fame to the Arctic Ocean, with a convenient road block along the way to allow everybody to bunch back up. This gave the most road worthy vehicle a chance to get past the true off road crawlers. To late, the "Super Jeep " crew had a 3 hour lead on everybody, so if they simple kept from breaking down they were going to win, and they did. All in all it was a decent late night ride in front of the TV. I know that some of you hated it and some liked it. I had to write this post for the sake of finishing the thread out.

I wonder if they will have a new one? I hope so. It was the only thing I watched on TV.

If they do have another episode I hope they keep the whiners out.

Not to defend the whiners too much. While we sit on the couch they start out fresh, but as the show goes on they are out in the cold, getting tired and beaten up, not showing there best sides.

The whiners is what keeps reality TV going.
You're probably right or they wouldn't have let him back in after he dropped out.

Ya but there was only one real whiner out of the whole bunch.

Most, not all, had their whining moments. Most toughed it out fairly well though. Occasionally there was shown some real sportsmanship shown by most of the players. The brother sister team showed some real skill and decent strategy on occasion. The Super Jeep guys were the most prepared, I wonder how healthy the cancer guy really is. The War wagon guys .... well the guy driving showed skill, the other guy showed that he can be knocked out and come back quickly. The Rover guys showed some real skill, but in the end were NOT my favorite team. The Ted Nugent looking brother team, well what can be said about them. Bless their hearts, they tried.....

I didn't like Eddie Haskell very much.
He didn't seem trustworthy.

Thanks for mentioning this show. Never knew it existed. Found the old episodes and my boy and I are now onto episode 3. My girls walked in to see what we were watching and they liked it so much they stayed throughout and anxious to start the next one.

Haven't read through most of the posts since I don't want any spoilers. Even my young kiddos were making fun of the a-holes and their tea drinking.

SlowPocono - Sorry but, as it relates to the show, who is Eddie Haskell?

Hmmm - I must be out of touch, ignorant, stupid....... :(

Edit: I have never seen a "Leave it to Beaver" program in my entire life......

Well to each his own but Id watch a marathon of Leave it to Beaver before an episode of " Reality *cough* *cough* TV ".

Well I wouldn't......... made up syrup covered pabulum filled programming that required a laugh line so we all knew when to laugh, that is if there even was an audience isn't for me anymore. "Sitcom = barf bag = time wasted." I enjoy what I enjoy, same as anybody else, I do try not to look down on someone else's harmless pleasures. For instance, this coming Sunday most of the USA will be siting down to watch grown men bump into each other and get paid millions to do it. But hey, "I only here so I won't get fined." Golly, what a frigin' waste of time.

Edit: the previous statement was a meaningless knee jerk reaction with the sole intent to make a point. A few have enjoyed this thread, some others haven't, none of it is actually a big deal. Here's something I've been pondering, "How do we know that Stephen Hawking is actually the one speaking through the computers voice? Is it possible that someone else is saying the things he has been saying lately?"

Don't feel too bad about it.
It really wasn't all that great, but it was an example of early real life TV that employed drama and scripting to draw in viewers.
There was simply a lesser tendency to attempt to deceive the audience.

Maybe, but I enjoy seeing the country .... Please don't tell me they filmed the show in some swamp in Maine ..... I enjoyed the vehicles and their differences ....... please don't tell me they had stunt vehicles doing al the hard stuff ..... there's a lesson in watching people try to work their way through difficulties ..... it is possible that they had mud buggies off camera to tow them out of true obstacles ..... I suppose they could have been paid actors making a name for themselves....

It also taught real life lessons and things like courtesy , respect and manners. Not to mention many other attributes todays society is lacking. Family values were learned during family time back then. Instead now the things they program for ratings are all SHOCK value.

I could go on a real tirade here but I digress.

I believe that we both have digressed to some degree...

You are correct about all of that.
There's no consideration given to the insidious effect of entertainment.
The effect is worse when drama is presented as reality.

 That's a good one, interesting thought.

I agree with your point and they still have that stuff on the Disney Channel. I know it more than I should.

We don't watch reality TV as a family or with our kids. This one was an exception that I allowed because it was something I enjoyed viewing with my son with true laughs. Guess I'm sick and tired of the Disney lesson's learned bs shows; this is how you stir up trouble, act innocent and then work out all of life's problems by simply apologizing with a sad face and a wise-crack joke. All to do it over again and again and again. [cue audience laugh track]
