What's the best one piece axel to go with? Anything else I should swap out while I'm there?

I plan on doing the following
- Weld the axel tubes to the diff.
- Put in 4.88 gears (Any recommendations?)
- ARB lockers
- One piece axels
- 2" or 4" lift
- 33 or 35 " tires

Welcome to the forum. With that planned gear ratio it can have an effect on highway driving unless you have an Overdrive Transmission as you did not state which tranny you have. There are low gear additions that can be installed in the Transfer Case for better off road performance. You will need the 4" lift suspension to handle that size of tire also. I hear Moser makes a good one piece axle for the Jeep CJ.

Choose a kit that use the Timken set 9 type wheel bearing. Some kits use a standard AMC20 type wheel bearing. With the Timken set 9 you can run them in a locker or some other type of differential that doesn't have a thrust block to keep the axles from drifting inward.

I've run 10 factory's for about 5 years with 0 problems. I've got 10 F chromoly in the front as well with 0 issues.

Welcome to the Forum! The one piece axles I chose were the Mosers, and that choice was highly recommended by the folks on this site. Can't really help you on your other ideas and not sure if 4 inches of lift will allow you to run the 35" tires without some rubbing. Let us know what you do...and have fun with it! :chug:

Another welcome to the forum, back when I was trying to resurrect the AMC20 in 'Black Betty', Randy's Ring & Pinion was of invaluable help to me and the shop that was doing the work. you might give 'em a call.
ps Ultimately I went with a Dana 44 w/locker
