Need some help to figure this one out. I recently bought a 69 with the V6. It overheated and blew water out the radiator cap. I have since replaced the thermostat and flushed out the system. There is no water in the oil and the engine will start bur within about 30 seconds it starts pumping antifreeze out the cap, what the heck!!! Any thoughts?

Replace the cap and see if that doesn't fix it.

There may also be a small hole in the filler neck. This can give the appearance of the cap leaking

Did this just start?
Replace cap and when was the last time the radiator was 'rodded-out'?
When you remove the cap, what does the passages look like? Clear of a bunch of 'coral' growing?
IF all looks good-You then may well have a blown headgasket.
Get ready to do a compression and leakdown test.

man that would suck

I flushed out the radiator, heater core and block, all were pretty clean. I just slowly refilled the heater hoses and block to allow the air to escape. When I tried to start it today the antifreeze did not bubble out as before, The engine attempts to fire but will not run . Once, the bride thought she saw a puff of white exhaust. :chug:

Squirt some gas down the carb.
What does the choke do while try'n to start? Does it close or stay open?
Are your spark plugs 'wet' or dry?
Can you see gas squirt into the carb when you work the throttle linkage it's full travel?

My starter went out last night, it took out the edge of the teeth. I installed the new starter this morning. I could see the gas in the carb. Part of the problem is I just installed a new poly tank and sending unit. I believe I still had some air in the line. I got it running and no leaks so far. ;)

Fingers crossed :chug:
