Build Thread Aussie CJ7 - 78

Build Thread Aussie CJ7 - 78
you know, by Texas standards, that is starting to get hot.

Ok so I've attached last weeks run down of the heat here.
It's taken from the Cairns Airport.
That 100*F was the hottest day for Jan in something like 40 years.
It was also 97% humidity ...
I'm waiting till this avo before I look in the garage
Heat just saps the energy right out of you :(
Right now it's 97*F at around 50% humidity where I am ... almost unbearable.

It can get hot around these parts!

I'll take the sweat over shoveling the driveway so I can get out of it though......

This won't be too expensive Dear! That's what I keep saying. Over and over again.

I just looked at average temps for Garland, Texas and they look dam close on the max temps ... only it has winter lows at 31*F.
So almost identical max's as Cairns, Queensland but our winter lows would maybe get down to a whopping 53*F ...

I met a man who was touring Australia (up from Victoria). He was looked at strongly for laughing in an Atherton (tiny town near here) pub when news reporters stated they worried about a lost tourist as overnight temperatures were set to drop to 16*C (60*F) ... He thought that would be a nice night out under the stars ??

It's the ridiculous humidity that gets you in Australia ... That, and we have the fortunate geographic location of being under the thinnest part of the ozone ... Meaning 10 minutes in the sun here and your burning ..

Cherry Tree Road Part 1 - YouTube

Ok I was really scared to go here ...
But this is how we "wheel" down under !!!
But the main reason I'm posting this is so that yall can laugh your *** off at my accent !!!
Hope yall enjoy !!

I finished up with the roll bar tacked up so the "almost 3 year old" can play again in the CJ while I work on it.
It's just missing that front section for the windshield frame.
I'll tack the rest up in there but I'll need it out to complete the finish welds.
First two pics are with the wire holding it where I needed everything and then I was able to tack it up once everything was lined up.

Different camera means the CJ looks cherry red, rather then firecracker red

Roll bar is looking good Jon. I still like those rock sliders...those are very slick.

I vote team Poppi...oh you weren't asking? :D Thanks for the vids...oh and yeah, we do carry a chainsaw on our outings. Crazy Aussie's!!

I hear ya !!
What did you think of the Colorado bottoming out in the second one !!
That sound was NOT added !!
He just drove it clean into the sub-frame, and she ran aground like the Titanic straight into the iceberg !!!

did not consider the ozone, your humidity would be pretty close to Houston. If you stand still too long the moss grows on the north side of your leg.:D

Got the drivers side slider zipped up and coated in flat black - Drying now.
All bolt-ons look good and finished.
I'm hesitating on bolting back on the carby till I fill all of those holes left in the fire-wall - More room to get to the job without it on.
Got the front and rear bump stops on - If I had my time again I would have bought the extended stops !! If anyone is thinking about getting a set of new ones !!

looking good Jon. that is the cleanest, sharpest engine I have seen...think you will ever get it started? :D Nice close up of the header bolted in...those turned out nice...I know it was a lot of work. So the question is...why would you go with extended bump stops? Won't that lower your range of travel?

Look out. Judging by his build I think he wants to eat off it..
