Build Thread Aussie CJ7 - 78
You guys will throw anything on the Barby down there wont you? Love it. Looks awesome. Nice colour as well. :D

Just finished getting through the thread. Great work! You have given me many good ideas. Thanks

Bob

Looks great. SS bolts? Keep going, looks great!.

Yeah every time I pull something off I'm amazed at how random bolts have been thrown back into this Jeep. So I keep replacing all, and I seem to be ending up with more SS (marine grade) then I ever intended ??
Oh and I think it's about time we got a name :D
I can't say "Thanks thiswontbetooexpensive" or "What's up thiswontbetooexpensive" .... :D

Your progress is inspiring, makes me want to go paint some parts! Your build looks great, thanks for bringing us along.

Thanks, I couldn't count how many times I've got on this forum to wind up the motor (with a coffee in hand of course) and then trotted off to the garage to get into it all inspired. Look forward to keeping an eye on seeing how that little 5 of yours turns out.

It looks like things are coming together. WHen you get done, you are more than welcome to come to the USA and help with mine..hehehe.

Ha ha ha Well maybe one day I hope to get over there ... Rubicon has been a dream of mine since I could drive !!!

Thanks for taking the time to check out the thread. :notworthy:

Ok so bucketing rain today but I managed time for a run in the afternoon ... "who cares"..

So the photos should talk for themselves.
Pic 1 - Got the old master cylinder off, and relocated the QT lines out of the clutch hole.
Pic 2 - Wrinkle spray black !!!! WHERE HAVE YOU BEEN MY WHOLE LIFE !!
Pic 3 - Dry my pretties ... dry !! :D

Lastly..
If anyone is climbing under their rig in the next couple of days the "rear drum cable joiner" for the park brake in the second pic (where your park brake cable splits in two). It's not centered and I assumed the shorter side would go to the side with the cable running down from the frame ... But we all know what assumption means...
If anyone can tell me if that's right or not it would be greatly appreciated.

First off, thought you could use this link.Tips for Running in Bad Weather

As soon as I get home from work I will climb under my jeep and see what I can find for you...though, seeing as your master cylinder is on the wrong side it may be opposite of what you have. That paint does look great. Did you primer it first?

Lastly, with all the rain, it might be time to let the kitty in the house.

Alpha, the kitty is probably scared it will be thrown on the Barby. ;)

Danny. Just Danny, not Danny Boy, or Danno, and definitely not Dan.

Thought no one would ever ask!

This won't be too expensive Dear! That's what I keep saying. Over and over again.

Ugg you stole my wrinkle paint idea. :bang: Well actually you didnt since I havent gotten around to it yet. :)

My older brother used to use it on Harley parts. He'd bake them in the oven as well and the wrinkle finish would really come out then. Your oven post was what had me thinking about that again. I said to myself " Self , you could use that on some brackets and such". Then your posting it today.

The parking brake is fully functional on the Limited . Ill look at it tonite for you. ;)

Ha ha ha LOVE THE FIRST LINE !!!
"Don't let the hot, cold, rainy, or snowy weather give you an excuse not to run."
I etch prime everything !! I once tried to take off the paint that I'd just put on and when I pulled it all off with the wire wheel, the best I could do was a slight grey finish where the etch primer had eaten into the metal. I was so impressed I've been using since.
Your assistance is appreciated sir.

Believe it or not, 5 dogs means 0 cats. Oh and the old two are so funny. One's getting blind and the other deaf so they're hilarious to run in the back paddock !!

EXACTLY !!!
I figured I was only Limited to what I could fit in the oven !!
Great minds think alike I tell ya !! :D
Thanks for the help.

Heres how mines set up. Dont think it would be much different on a '78. This from the drivers side which would be your passenger side.

We have 3 dogs and the neighbors have a cat...that one day will disappear if my 110lb German Shepard has anything to do with it.

Here are two pics...same as Pete's, it's on the drivers side. Not sure what you mean by the shorter side though.

You two are LEGENDS !!!

So it looks like long side of the bracket goes to the bottom, which takes the short cable and is the side the cable runs down, which happens to be drivers side on US and Aussie models.
And the longer drum cable comes across from the passenger side, but is fitted to the shorter side of the bracket ....

I'd throw it all back together but I realised I need to do some body work to that drivers (pass) front body mount as it's concaved in about 1/2 an inch and so leaves the body sitting low :(
So I'll leave the cable off so I can continue to jack up the body ...

I was going to look at trying to finish that roll cage this weekend .. we'll see how we go ??

Don't see much happening here. You and the boys been out hunting or something?

Ok so I've attached last weeks run down of the heat here.
It's taken from the Cairns Airport.
That 100*F was the hottest day for Jan in something like 40 years.
It was also 97% humidity ...
I'm waiting till this avo before I look in the garage
Heat just saps the energy right out of you :(
Right now it's 97*F at around 50% humidity where I am ... almost unbearable.

Grab the misses, the kids and the five dogs and head this way. We got lots of snow, sunny weather and the high was around 40*F.

I would suggest you hang out with the kids in the pool but then i saw this.

Be safe in that heat. Better keep a few cold ones nearby :booze:
