Build Thread Aussie CJ7 - 78
Today's project was to finish the grill, ready for painting.
Tapped out two spots I knew I could get a bolt through to.
Bent up a replacement cover and made sure it went about 10mm back under the grill.
Made some new Body Mount Retaining Cages which gives about 2mm of play either up or down.

Wasn't happy with the welds but they'll hold .. Of course I ran the front edge first (should have done it last once I had a feel for speed, ect ... don't look as pretty as I would have liked ... :(
Last picture I flicked it with some rattle can red just to get the idea of finished product.

It's all about the penetration with welds man. Looks good to me.

2mm?? 10mm?? English mate, remember going metric was too much for our union paid teachers to grasp so we are still using inches, feet and miles. welds look good though...a jeep with a nice scar looks manly.

Ha ha ha Yeah, good point .... Sooo lets say there's a little short of 1/8" play ... :D
At least the grill is done, and will sit there now until a few bits go to the paint shop.

So after a 7hr labour that pushed on right through the whole night, we were joined by our second daughter for sunrise yesterday.
Very long stressful night with no sleep,
but a very special sunrise indeed.

Congrats and hope all is well. A very special sunrise indeed. :chug:

Thanks guys.

Just got one last problem at work tomorrow and it's 3 weeks off to enjoy the new company :D

Might get some more done on the CJ too.
I got the freight cost back for my latest order (Brake lines, disks and calipers) at something like $270 bucks shipping with something like $360 worth of parts ... Was a little shocked to see it total over $600 :(
Problem is I need the gear to keep going ... Might have to save for a few more weeks

Why the shipping costs so high? Is it coming from the states? Better hurry, it will be no time before that little one will be out of her mothers pouch and jumping around on her own. :D

All is going well but it's back to sleepless nights.
Great thing is I get to get out of the house with the 2 1/2 year old now, to get the Mrs some quiet time.
So I've been taking the JK down the river each avo to throw rocks with the 2 1/2 year old - I'm teaching her to throw and to swim.
I guess owning a Jeep comes with a lifestyle most don't understand !!

Glad you are getting some quality time in with your daughter, cherish these days. But be forewarned there is something about girls and jeeps...:D

Got about three jobs on the boil at the moment.
Cutting and grinding over the last day or so.
Here's one of them.
Plan is for a battery each side. Starter on the drivers side, auxiliary on the passenger side.
They're made for Optima's but will be able to fit others if I'm stuck - Or clearly until I get an Optima  I should just pull the one out of the JK .. :D
