Build Thread Aussie CJ7 - 78
1. Intake nearly cleaned up.

2. How awesome is the previous weld up on those headers !!
Sadly I reckon headers to my door will be in excess of $500, so I'm going to have to look at another home fix ... :(

So for those that may not know, in Far North Queensland we've got Cane Beetles - Hence the very famous introduction of the Cane Toad to stop a plague proportion of Cane Beetles .... Well the rest is history.
But up here, or down here for you guys, when ever Christmas comes, we get "Christmas Beetles .... Vibrant green variety.
It's a sign of time off, plenty of beer/bourbon and stinking hot days !!
Hope every one's Christmas preparations are going well :D

Hope you can grind off all that glob mess and patch up that hole with no problem. It has been warm here too after that dumping of 14 inches of snow we had...got to around 42 degrees or 5 Celsius for all those still under the crown. :D

Well around here it's been cold but only cuz it's been in the 80's before this cold front. Feels good to wake up and see ur breathe

Nice, very nice.
Never had a white Christmas.
Maybe one day I'll get over to see some snow in the US :)

I think we live in one of the greatest places in the world. :)

Well my hands are aching ... Yeah, yeah poor me .. :)

Exhaust manifold looks to be in a much better place. I'm just waiting for a 2.5" flange to get here in the mail and I'll weld it on to the bottom of the headers. That way if there are any further problems it all comes off easy.
Intake manifold cleaned, and painted - Waiting for the gasket kit.
Got to that side of the block while it was all off and tidied it up to black.
Rocker cover off, cleaned and painted - Waiting for that same gasket kit.

Some damn fine work my friend...don't forget you have to tackle the frame when this is done. :D

Frame ... what frame .....

But here is my latest "back yard engineering" that I wanted to share ...

Making up some new battery terminal leads .... don't have a crimping tool ... :( No worries !! Just cut a bolt in half. File down the edges so they'll crimp in nicely, and whack em all in the vice !! Hay-presto !! :D
:chug:

They look store bought! Nice work...here we don't call it backyard engineering, we call it ...um... Jigger rigging. ;)

Have I been avoiding the frame ... Yeah probably ...

That fan looks orange under the flash of the camera !!

What color you going to paint the rockers? :D. From what little I can see of the frame, it doesn't look so bad...does the fan glow when it spins at night??

Yeah rockers will be that same red !! :D
And yep, I figured I want to be able to see the fan on a black engine - my luck I'll put my hand straight in it when I adjust the timing the first time I warm it up again !! I hope it will glow in the dark !! :D

Waiting for a top end gasket kit to put it all back together ..... patiently ...

Christmas Eve down here my friends.
Once the 3yd is asleep I've got to put together an 8 foot trampoline
It's lucky I have a fridge full of bourbon to help me out

So a big Merry Christmas to all, from down under !!! :chug:

Are you going to have the traditional Aussie Christmas meal??

There should be a little hook thing that helps you install the springs...use it if you value keeping your fingers when putting together that tramp. Merry Christmas from your buddies up north.

Happy Holidays! Mate!
