I have a 1985 CJ7 with stock axles (AMC20 ), i am having issues with the left rear wheel slipping like it is jumping splines. I haven't torn into it yet to see what the issue is. I had a friend tell me that it was the 2 piece axle that was messed up, he was suggesting to replace it with the 1 piece set up. I am really uncertain with one to get!?!?! Has anyone had this issue?

Man that helps out a lot!! I have been scratching my head trying to figure this out. I looked at that moser axles and they are about $100 cheaper than the alloy usa. Thats a plus also. Now i guess i will have to get them bought and get them put in. Did you install yours or have them done?

Stop driving the Jeep until you have the axle issue resolved. Those CJs don't ride too good on 3 wheels! (Ask me how I know............)

I installed them back then in the 90's but I recently rebuilt both axles as part of my resto and I sourced them out to save me time, and because I had new diff's put in. So I got the bearing kit from them but didn't install it myself and I don't recall many details from the first time. But just keep in mind the outer seal and backing plate for the brakes must go on before the bearing is pressed on.

I just replaced mine last week with one piece axels. If you buy the kit, it should come with detailed instuctions on how they go together. Make sure you read all the way thru before starting install. The bearings are pressed on and don't come off easy if you forget something. Unfortunately I know this from experience:( Best investment you can make!

Moser all the way, and while ur in there think about a locker/Diff covers. and you'll never have to worry about anything, anymore, ever!
