Best Motor Mounts?

I think I should replace my motor mounts, the rubber looks not so good.
Just wondering who makes a good replacement mount.
Anyone have any experience good or bad?

mine has two straight from advance auto parts they was $8 each and they seem to be working fine. I've heard that polyurethane is the way to go if you are wanting a "performance" upgrade but i have also heard the you need to change the Transmission mount to, if you use the poly motor mounts

If you go polly you will feel more vibs. rubber soaks them up better.

Thanks for the input, Well if I were to go rubber how do I avoid getting that Chineese like my shift boot rubbers are made of that are only 10 mos. old and falling apart? Maybe I'm better off doing nothing?

i have the same problem. ive been thru two sets of shifter boots for the Transmission and Transfer Case .

I think I am going to try the urethane, I don't see the AMC 258 i6 / 4.2l vibrating my teeth out and maybe it will help keep my but awake on long drives.

What has always annoyed me about AMC 258 i6 / 4.2l motor mounts is they are so conveniently located right under the oil filter. Every three thousand your mounts get an oil bath. And then we run right down to the car wash to clean it off, yea right.
The urethane looks like it could deal with that better than the rubber.
I guess your comfort priorities change with age.

On your thought IO, I changed the oil and filter in my JD mower a couple days ago and the Kawasaki engine has a nice extension on the drain line so as to make a tiddy job of draining the oil untill you go to remove the filter and it's horizontal and right up against the engine so like the AMC 258 i6 / 4.2l you now have a mess on your hands.

1. get OEM rubber motor mounts. They absorb vibrations better although they may need to get replaced after a few years.
2. Get polyurethane motor mounts like Sasquach recommended. They will last forever.
You can get OEM mounts at rockauto.com or at NAPA.
If you really want heavy duty polyurethane mounts try MORE Bomb Proof Motor Mounts.

Well, the thread asks what the best motor mount is. I'm not sure $213 is worth it. Most of that cost is for the steel that replaces the OEM mounting. If I needed motor mounts I would go with the Sasquach recommendation.

I've had poly mounts for 6 years now of abuse. Longer than any rubber ones I had. Like 3 sets. They were lucky to make it 4 years.

Vibration. Maybe a little more, but it's only a AMC 258 i6 / 4.2l . Not a 454 w 600hp.

there's nothing wrong with poly, i'll probably use em when i buy a bushing and mount kit if i ever get to do a frame off on mine. but when i built my motor buying new mounts was an after thought so i ran down to the parts store and bought what they had in stock.

Those More mounts are the "bomb"(as my kids say) but for my needs I think I will get some polys with 73CJ's recomendation. 73CJ what was your determining factor that made you change your mounts so often? By looks or do you do some kind of stress test?

My Jeep has not lead an easy life. I test it until it breaks then beef it up. I would blow the stock style out. Then it would hole the oil filter. Not good to loose all your oil in the woods.

I tried NAPA and 4WD rubber ones to no avail.

What do you mean the engines not supposed to be clocked? I put in some new Energy suspension poly mounts this morning and now the engine sits at 12:00 again! The mount under the oil filter had sagged about 5/8" and the other side was torn 90% from it's backing. now for the Transmission .--later today.
