Not sure if this is the correct forum for this, but it has been a lot of years since I redid drum brakes. Helping my grandson with his 1983 CJ7 and can not get the rear drums off. I have backed the adjuster off and checked to be sure there is no retaining clips on the studs. I do see 3 Phillip head bolts. I have taken 2 off but the head of the third one is rounded out. Was planning to use an e-z-out but wanted to check with the forum first. Need help on how to remove the drums.

Don't know what Phillips head fasteners you are referring to, but most likely the drum has 'frozen' on the hub. Deadblow hammer, oak 4x4 (battering ram), sweat, beer.

Start bangin'

Just drill that screw head out and then grind flush with axle hub flange.
You really don't need those 3 screws.

I drilled the head off, still took a lot of pounding to get it off. First time I have ever ran into drums being bolted to the hub. attaching some pictures for other to see if they have a problem

I really didn't recall those machine screws on my AMC20 when I took it all apart. Perhaps they had already been removed. But it was almost 20 years ago, and I've destroyed a few more gray cells over that time.

Over the years, I've run into a few frozen on wheels/drums. I've gotten to the point that I apply a very thin coat of anti-seize to the wheel mounting surface, especially if it's an alloy wheel. Don't need much, because you don't want it 'all over' the vehicle.

Thanks!

Look fine to me. Yes, on some copper anti seize around the center ID of the drum where the axle hub fits.
