Hi guys my brake light came on today and I filled the resovoir up with fluid since it seemed to be low. I then drove it around to see if the light would turn off, and it didn't.

I also have a brake squeal in the front right section and it stops squealing when I press on the brake pedal so I believe it's the brakes that are making the noise.

Any suggestions how to diagnose my problem? Or solutions and expierence? Thanks

Your brakes need attention. FLuid level will seem to suddenly drop when brake pads are warn out, the extra room in the brake cylinders has to be filled with somehting. If it's warn out pads and I'm betting it is, your master cylinder will now over flow when you press the cylinders back for the new pads.

The fluid was low because the pads/shoe liners are worn, or the rear cylinders are weeping. I would pull the front wheels and check the pads. Then pull the rear wheels and drums (if stock) and check the wheel cylinder for weeping and shoes.

Edit: disregard already answered.

Ok thanks guys I'm going to check the pads. I have front disks.

If you need new pads, pay the money for high quality pads. It's tempting to pay a little less, but cheap pads wear out quickly and are black dust dirty.

the squeal in front can be caused by worn caliper pins, they vibrate at a very high frequency until load is applied when they get enough years on them, done this alot on everything.

Most pads have a tab that will rub on the rotor and make a squeal when your pads are wore down to let you know its time for new ones. And the light comes on when the pedal is going down to far.

That light will also indicate an issue with your brake portioning valve.
