Broken Axle

Hello,
I have broken a rear axle shaft on my cj and need to replace it. I'm pretty new to jeeping, and am looking for advice on who makes the best replacement axle shafts. I'm not sure if its important to note for such a vague request, but my axles are Dana 44s from an old Scout II. I'm running 37 inch tires that are pretty heavy so I feel like I need something pretty stout. Any advice is much appreciated!

From my opinion and from what I have seen, a Dana 44 is a bit weak for 37" tires. So, I would have to suggest an upgrade to a D60 or a Ford nine inch, with a locker of course. Randy's Ring and Pinion is one place that comes to mind for a replacement.

Check out Moser, but once you get good axles, the pinion will go next.
I'd also add a 8.8 to that list they can handle 37's but not a whole lot more.

Any 44 is not the best axle for 37's.
Even my 9" would be borderline with heavy foot.
What R&P gears are you turning?
Where did the axle break? Carrier or near the backing plate.
Think you'll need to either step down in tire size, or step up in axle strength like a Dana 60.

Let me know if you decide to go bigger. I will be swapping out the front 60 out of the 360 jeep 61" wm/wm open with 3.73 gears I'll throw in a different gear set instead of the 3.73s for free you set them up. And I need to keep my steering setup.
