So, this weekend I set to finding all the leaks on the '66. There was a small "pool" on the backside top where the casting numbers are located, as well the backend and sides had some seepage. Easy enough - likely just a poor gasket between the intake and heads/block. What I found though was the the edelbrock intake manifold has no business being on the odd-fire 225 (another member had a similar issue, and his post notes that a call to edelbrock identified they never made an odd-fire intake manifold). Other than the oil leaks I've noticed zero performance issues (fires right up, runs very "even" - e.g. doesn't stall, rev, cut out, etc, compression is no issue, power seems to be fine - not use to the 225, but it seems okay?). So, here are the questions: what are the differences between the 225 odd fire and 231 even fire intakes? Is it safe to continue to run this intake, or is this a "stop now and replace" situation? If a replace now issue, any recommendations on sources?
