I'm new to Jeeps and I was wondering, I have two hoses (both pretty thick, about 1 inch in diameter) coming from the top of the carb. Each hose is about two to three inches long and connected together using a T connector. The last port to the connector has the same diameter hose connected to it but isn't connected to anything else at the other end. Does anyone know where this hose should connect?

It's all part of an elaborate and confusing emissions system and to say what goes where without pics or more info is hard.
Come back with pics of you engine compartment or better yet go to the top of the page in the Docs tab and find your (or close to) years jeep 6cyl vacumm diagram and try to sort it out. you will learn more this way.

I have the vacuum diagram and, to what I can make from it, it doesn't have the hoses I am speaking of in the diagram.

The hoses at the top of the carb are the ones I am talking about.

Yes, it is. Nutter it?

So your lines inquetion should be routed into the vapor canister.

I you don't have to go through inspections a nutter bypass will get rid of all your unneeded vacuum lines, and computer. Most people ge fed up and do it eventually and the jeep always runs better. I didn't notice what year you had but think this applies to all CJ's with the AMC 258 i6 / 4.2l . I was lucky enough to do it when I was repairing my wiring harness and was able to cut the Computer system and wires completely out. It cleans up the engine compartment alot. Here's a JF link

The nutter bypass pertains to the AMC 258 i6 / 4.2l with the carter BBD carb, no?
Is Munky's carb a BBD? looks like a 1bbl to me.

I have the stock carb and from what I've read, it is a two barrel.

If it's the stock carb and 2 barrel it would be the BBD as far as I know but the picture is tough to tell for me anyway.

I just went to look at it and it has the top butterfly (for the choke I'm guessing), then two more below it.

Sorry for this but.....:D

Haha. I'll take better pictures of the carb tomorrow for everyone.

Look on the back of the carb. Does it have a plug with a couple wires coming out of it? If so it's the bbd and computer controlled. No plug and your good with out doing the nutter

Ok, it has no plug.

i have the same problem. can i just plug these lines or do i need to keep them open
