Carter BBD vac ports

Need some help figuring out what goes where. Finishing up the list for a first start on a rebuilt AMC 258 i6 / 4.2l . CJ's been Nutter'd. The BBD is an NOS.

Have the ports in question numbered 1 to 7.

Thanks Lumpy. Tried that one (the diagram) awhile ago and all it does is make it more confusing . Most of the things in the drawing aren't there any more.

Ports #1,2 &7 are vacuum.
I don't have #1 on mine.
#7 on mine, is not active.

Here's what I have come up with and seems to all fit. Won't be doing a first start on the engine for a few more weeks.

The CJ has been Nutter'd, and the AMC 258 i6 / 4.2l has a 4.0 head. Did swap the PCV to the rear and the intake side to the front as the OEM air cleaner fits a little better.
Made a mount for it as the 4.0 valve cover doesn't have the holes for the mount. The air horn points to the passenger side now as well. May hook up the "hose" from the air horn to the grill at some point to draw in "cold" air. But here in Texas, "cold" air is in the high 90's for the summer. And it would involve relocating two of my horns. I got a little crazy and used the four notes from an older model Cadillac. Fi I need to use the horn, it will be heard.

The valve cover breather is hooked to the air cleaner port. Couldn't find a new breather for the valve cover that would fit, so removed the filter material, cleaned up the housing and bought some new filter material for $1.99.

1. Capped. For older models it apparently drew in warm air for something.

2. To the TAC in the air cleaner. I'm not using any of the system in the air cleaner so all were removed and caped. So cap if not using the system, to TAC ports on the air cleaner if you are.

3. To the PCV on the valve cover and "T'd" to cannister.

4. Signal to the charcoal canister diaphragm.

5. To carb bowl vent on the canister. In some cases 5 and 6 are "T'd" together before going to the canister. Other times 6 is capped. When i got the carb was told better performance if 6 was capped. So I have capped 6.

7. To the CTO valve. I have switched to a 2 port CTO valve (original was 5 port) as I am not using all the ports. 7 goes to the CTO then a line form the CTO to the EGR valve.

Just a quick note-Those rubber 'caps' rot and crack PDQ. Look for vinyl type and buy plenty of spares.
