Thanks for sharing this with the group CJ. I have gone through several revisions of this; added functionality and modified the layout. If I can make it better or do anything else I need the community to let me know. I am happy to continue this as a living document. It has really helped me plan and budget.

I just don't let me wife see it since the projected cost is always way above the budgeted expenses.

By the way, for anyone who wants to download and try out the sheet, click the link CJ posted to the spreadsheet - once there, you'll see some screen shots. On the top right of the page the link takes you to, you'll see an orange "DOWNLOAD" button. click it.

I also have a spreadsheet I use to track costs, mileage, oil changes, and what I have done to my CJ7 since I got it.

My wife doesn't look at mine either. [emoji23][emoji23]

I'm to scared to look at costs ! I know even if I sold it, nobody would pay that. It would look more like a ransom demand.

This has definitely shown me when I need to slow down ordering Jeep parts.

Great work Ultrunner...!!! Yes, thanks a million...we all now have a more all-encompassing level of documentation shining a bright light on the financial idiocy of our favorite passion.

Additionally, it makes the same easily and readily available for the plaintiff's counsel when the inevitable happens. No more days of saying the 'ol CJ is worth about $5,500 so we can split it at a $2,750 buyout. No sir...that same Jeep just became a major sticking point in Family Court mediation...(seen this movie) and thus it may be destined to be a complete STEAL on Craigslist or Facebook Marketplace...

Okay in all seriousness (as opposed to 65% seriousness above), this is fantastic. Those of you wanting to print it need to change the orientation and margins on each tab once and you're good to go.

Excellent Excel "build" ;-)

Dang! Way more sophisticated than the one I used for my 351w swap. In mine, I did a cost comparison between EFI and carb. Also allowed me to compare other choices like getting the rotating assembly internally balanced, rebuild vs replace Transmission /TC and other options.

I ultimately used my final choices to update my insurance policy and increased the agreed value.

007’s response wins this thread so far. Two words: password protect.

But seriously, yes I put some effort into making all the ancillary sheets link to the tables and graphs on the dashboard to be a one-stop-shop. In mine at home I’ve also maintained receipts and created hyperlinks to the folder where I’ve scanned them.

It’s a little over-board, but it helps for record keeping. I’ve figured this rebuild is a journey and sometimes it feels stupid to look at how much I’ve spent on it, but then I think of the quality of my vehicle and see it’s a much smaller price for half the quality of get from a dealership.
