CJ5 fuel bleeds off

My 1975 CJ5 AMC 258 i6 / 4.2l looses it's fuel prime if it sets over night. Does the mechanical fuel pump have a check valve to hold prime? Would an in line check valve at the tank correct the problem?

It could be the fuel is evaporating from the float bowl vents.

Most likely, the fuel-bowl is draining into the engine.
Time to rebuild that carb--
