79 CJ7 AMC 258 i6 / 4.2l three speed. I ordered the Crown kit. I attempted to mount it to the firewall and it is approximately 200````

'76 and up used a different bell crank (OE part # 5360104).
The '72-'75 is shorter (OE part # 5351292).
At a glance without measuring you can also tell the difference between the two because the grease zerk fitting is in a different position relative to the "arm" on the one end as well.
And then the even older '66-'71 is a lot different (OE part # 941232).

I’m not 100% sure, but I believe that bell crank was a bit shorter in early generation CJs, like up to ‘75.
Maybe you have one of those?
The original on my ‘86 is 9” +/- long.
