Custom AMC20 Full Floater

Custom AMC20 Full Floater
Bent, since new axle tubes and flanges are being made, wouldn't it be just as easy to make the flange fit the Ford spindle? Seems easier to keep track of parts too down the road as things wear out and need replacement.

Ya, if you can make one and insure the bolt pattern is centered on the axle tube. Probably easier to order one from Currie that is a slip fit over the large tube AMC20 , cut the tube square with a pipe cutter and weld it on. I don't think anyone makes bearing ends with the eight bolt (I think) Ford spindle pattern.

For comparsion, I did an xray test on my Warn Dana 44 full float rear axle an found it to be made from 4340 steel, hardened to a RC55. That means that sucker is very hard.

The tubes in a 20 can be replaced with 1/2 " wall jubes. I have had the warn kit in my 20 for 18 yrs. Need to get a copy of the original instructions for installing. Want to do new seals etc while putting in new gear sets. I am new to this forum thing so pardon me for any mistakes.

Jpick83, you could probably get the #s off the old seals for replacement. There are a few O-rings in there that could be available from Warn or an industrial outfit that sells various size O-rings.
