Dana 30 carrier shims or lack of

I am in the process of overhauling my Dana 30 and have a curious question.

I removed my carrier last night to clean the axle tubes, paint and prep to install the inner seals. I took the carrier out properly but I did not have any shims on either side??

Is that normal? All the reading/videos seemed to indicate there should be shims.

The shims on a 30 carrier go between the bearing and the carrier itself.

Well that clears up that mystery for me!!!!!!!

Don't get the carrier bearing caps mixed up or in the wrong position either.
