I have a 1984 Jeep CJ7 modified with a 383 stroker and a 400 turbo trans, dana 300 transfer case, 4.11 gears.
And a 1967 fordF-250 4X4 pickup, 360 engine, 435 trans, Np203 t-case, 4.11 gears
I took the cover off the bottom of my Dana 300 Transfer Case to try to figure out why it seems to be locking up in 4 wheel high, I didnt find anything wrong or torn up but I did notice the gears seem to want to walk on the shaft, so I decided to go through it and rebuild it. how do i count to find out if it has 32 splines? do i count splines on d-shaft yokes? also how do i tell if it has a long or short output shaft? should both front and rear be upgraded when i rebuild it as it has a 450HP 383 stroker in it. any advice will be apreciated. Thanks Wayne

Not really sure as to which spline count you are referring to by "32" and the yokes .. Stock input was 23 spline stock output was 26 this would also be the same with the Transmission output shaft 23 spline and output yokes 26 spline..BUT...your GM Turbo 400 output shaft would be 32 spline unless a 27 spline GM Turbo 400 (rare) from a chevy usually ss truck was used. Either way the input shaft has been changed for the Transmission so it's very possible that the output shafts have also been upgraded. You can count the splines on either the shafts or the yokes.
With 450 hp from a 383 you're looking at 400 plus ft/lbs unless someone really chose badly in the cam area.hope those axles are up too the job !!!!!
