dana 300 transfercase locking up

- I have a 1984 Jeep CJ7 modified with a 383 stroker and a 400 turbo trans, dana 300 transfer case, 4.11 gears.
And a 1967 fordF-250 4X4 pickup, 360 engine, 435 trans, Np203 t-case, 4.11 gears
I just bought my 84 Cj and for some reason it locked up and spum around then flipped over on its side. I inspected front and rear axles the i tested Transfer Case and find it to lock up only in 4 high. The person i bought it from rebuilt it and put a single stick shifter in. Could it be the shift lever not shifting gears inline with each other? Any sugestions would sure help. Thanks wayne
