Dana 44 Narrow Track vs AMC 20 Wide Track

Dana 44 Narrow Track vs AMC 20 Wide Track
:xj::xj:I have a 79 CJ5 with the narrow Trac. I bought an 85 CJ7 with wide trac that already has the solid axle conversion. I have swapped mine out for no other reason that I like the way it looks wider, but mine will only go to the beach and the closest trailing would be me pulling over to take a leak

I cut 4" off a 78 Waggy front Dana 44 to match the rear width on my 73.

Look for a older Waggy or Cherokee. They can be picked up cheap for the whole vehicle. Diffs are on the right side.

Lockers and 4.56s. I run em hard trying to bust stuff. So far so good.

just fin assembly on a narrow 44 last nite and am usein 2 in spacers...but my reasoning is that i had the locker for the 44 and spare shafts n bearings....at the same rate i have run the AMC20 without failure and no mods to it w 33in tires for years with a v8 360...and my driving doesnt always keep the jeep on the ground...so i was iffy about the wheel spacers too...but ill see what happens...
