Dana Transfer case?

Looks like a 20 to me.
There's a part number on a metal tag seen in the photo under one bolt head.
Record the numbers.

Yep, it's definitely a Dana 20 . The Dana 300 has a much shallower pan on the bottom. And I The C-18-xxxxx casting number on the back is a D20 casting number. A D300 has a C-300-xxxx casting number.

The metal tag hagar is talking about will tell specifically which version D20 and the year. Most of the differences between the different Jeep versions are with the shifter. So I wouldn't worry too much if you can't decode the tag.
