Dying when stopping?

Dying when stopping?
The next time it stalls out, check for vacumn on the gas tank by removing the fuel filler cap. If you hear air rushing in as you remove the cap this would indicate that there is no venting for the tank. As fuel gets sucked out of the tank a vacumn will create and it can affect getting fuel to the pump. A less expensive Jeep repair manual will show you how tanks vent system is set up using the charcoal canister along with a few other items.

Along those 'lines'(sorry:D). Why not just take the gas cap off and drive it some.

Excellent ideas guys. The old line running to the canister is plugged. I put a cap on kt when I saw it just hanging. I'll unplug and take it for a spin. Gonna coffee can and charcoal it if that is the problem.

If we can get this done then it will be body removal and paint time. Thinking of springing for a Painless wiring kit for him.

Do you know those cost 3 times what a OEM, FSM does?

What's wrong with the one your kid has now?

It is really bad. All of the dash component wiring is trashed. All light wiring is cut, the only wiring still intact is the ignition, which we rigged up to run temporarily. Im going to spring for the harness for him. Maybe an engine rebuild or swap. I'd really like to get him a 4.3L since I know those so well.

Then you will need the real FSM also.
Do a search on the painless set-up.

Ok will do. I installed one on a frame up resto CJ7 of mine a few years back and loved it. Even swapped out the AMC 258 i6 / 4.2l for a sbc and the kit was really flexible for the change as long as you left some slack with a future swap in mind. Had alot more trouble with the drivetrain by far.

My Son has busted his a** for me for years growing up and never complained. He's worked for and paid for every gun and all his hunting gear, as well as this jeep. I can't expect him to afford everything on this jeep so I'll help him here and there. He has alot saved up but quite a bit is already budgeted for paint, wheels, tires and some mods. He's 15 so he has time on his side but :dung: like this stalling is holding us up big time. I just want to get the mech side done before we get to blasting and paint.

Understand-Know of what you say.
Have 5 'kids', 1 girl(oldest)and 4 boys.
3 of the boys are combat vets with multi tours. One was tier-1 spec-ops.
The daughter is a LEO, and she is married to a cop also.
HELL YEAH-I'm Proud:D
We also have 8 g'kids

Have'n 2 of the boys in Iraq/A'stan at the same time wasn't easy--
Let us know what the results are with the unplugged fuel tank.
