Electrical Electrical issue, cj won’t start

Ok my cj won’t fire

I don’t know wtf if it’s the max fire coil . I’m freaking over it man
This is a seven year old thread. Please start a new question / thread and give us a much information as possible so we can help. Freaking out is just a tad little info to suggest a fix.

Oh, Max Fire coil is just an acronym. It's just an everyday coil... :)

original distributor hooked up to my 6ALMSD ignition control module it just cranks and cranks and cranks and won’t fire then I found purple wire with a black line with a feasible link going to a red wire and it came unplugged from something it’s got a button in connector on it, but I have no idea where it went A motherfiretrucker just won’t fire and it did before I don’t get it.

Well, first - if you want help please calm down and DO NOT use the language you have used as this is respectable site.

By removing a spark plug or using a test system are you getting any spark at all?
It definitely sounds like a wiring issue so can you please clearly explain your current ignition setup

Also, if you use the MSD bypass harness and remove the 6AL completely does it fire?

Sorry ! I just am about to louse it! Ok so what looks to be the stock distributor . Msd 6al ignition and a new coil. How do I t ell If I’m getting spark to the distributor

Cool, if you put the coil wire to ground does it spark?

Attaching some pictures might help us see what you have also. I just finished removing all my MSD items a couple of months ago, AL6 and their coil and also their distributor.

I know MSD doesn’t like connections like this if you read their install paperwork. IMG_0132.webp Is the 6AL light blinking I think it’s 5 times when you turn the key on ?

This is going to be interesting...

Prestolite distributor & module with an MSD 6 module...

The Prestolite Hall Effect trigger in the distributor won't drive the MSD directly, so they must be using output from the Prestolite module to drive the MSD module.

If the MSD module works (power it up and tap the 'White' wire to 'Ground', see if the coil fires)...

A working MSD module, the 'Easy' button is a Motorcraft distributor, cap & rotor. The Motorcraft trigger will directly fire the MSD module.

This also lets you use the Ford cap adaptor, cap, rotor & plug wires intended for the higher voltages an electronic ignition produces.

The 'Hold Over' short rotor & small cap were only intended for about 20,000 volts where an MSD module can easily produce 75,000 volts.

Everything so close together inside the cap and the spark can go anywhere... The taller rotor and wider spaced cap terminals allow the increased spark energy to get where it's supposed to be.

Just an idea, if you can't use it then it didn't cost you anything.
