I recently purchased a ‘73 CJ5 and all of the wiring under the hood is wrapped with electrical tape. I have never seen this before on any car except those who have been re-wired by some “mechanics.” Funny thing is, the wrapped wiring goes through the factory (I think) hold-downs, the off white Jeep plastic ties that anchor to the sheet metal. So did these re-wire technicians wrap the wiring in electrical tape and feed it back through the factory ties? I can’t think of any other answer but I don’t care for electrical tape much in this application so I plan to change everything. Anyway, just wanted to get your opinion as to how the factory would have left the wiring under there. Thanks!
