Hello fellow jeepers, lookin for some advice on removal of ca smog eqiupment on a 1980 cj AMC 258 i6 / 4.2l with a 2bbl.Leaving this crappy state and put a headder on the jeep at the same time figured Id remove smog equipment .The jeep ran excellent before with exsisting carb, can I plug vacuum lines or do I need an after market carb,or should I think about fuel injection.Im on a tight budget but I dont want to put money towards an aftermarket if its best to do the fuel injection.Im open to all advice ,Im not really mechanically inclined so I may have to take it to a pro depending on advice.Thank you in advance for your help.

Have you verified what the emission reg's are from the state your moving to? Most of the "smog" stuff comes off when you go to injection, if you go that route.

Fuel injection is the way to go but expensive.

For temporary find a 2 bbl AMC in a junk yard out of CA. :D

x2 on your states smog requirements. Id look into a MC2100 swap. also if your gonna plug up any thing make sure to use a tight fitting cap.

Go with the MC2100 and look up the nutter bypass. I stripped out all the stock emissions stuff doing these two things.

I agree with fuel injection.....
