Hello,

Looking for the best way to fix an exhaust leak where the manifold meets the head pipe, it's getting LOUD and seems to be right there.

It's on my '84 CJ with the AMC 258 i6 / 4.2l . what's the best way to reach these bolts? it's in a tight spot all things considered.

I believe "Help" products do have a stud kit that replaces the oem studs and includes extended length brass nuts. I have to agree that it is in a tight spot though. Another option would be to go to a muffler shop and have them line things up for you.

Oh yeah, to get those studs out, use a couple of nuts and lock them together to unscrew the studs. Something like a Liquid Wrench on the top end of the studs to help loosen them up.

looks like the PO replaced them with bolts, im hoping i can get my impact in there from the bottom and gun them off.

Best to try a hand wrench first.
I found a U-joint socket work'd best here.
When you re-install the bolts. Coat the threads with copper anti-seize.

:agree:

They may well have back'd off some, and that might be the leak.
Good luck,

Not only that but I've found a lot of times if you tighten a stubborn bolt or nut it will come off easier.
