exhaust manifold question

Sorry, likely another dumb question.

On the side of the manifold just left and above where the exhaust comes out, there is this hole. It looks like it was put there "after market" and had at some point some kind of silver foil kind of "what ever" clamped on to it.

I am wondering please what is it and where did it go?

That is from the factory. There is a foil type hose that went from the manifold to the air cleaner. And if you learn from it it wasn't a dumb question. Welcome to the site

What it's basically designed for is to bring some warm air to the "air horn" section of the air cleaner .

yes it uses the heat coming off the exhaust manifold to heat up th air coming into the carb to keep it from freezing up and to help warm the motor up faster. its old technology now so you dont see it anymore but its something worth having in Canada for sure

Nope, It's about 65 F out right now and a beautiful fall day, and also the first day of archery deer season.
