I bought a 1981 CJ7 , put new dash pad, seat, gauges, clock, tach. now I need to change fluids.
Engine: 10w 30
Next is axles, tranny and Transfer Case . I don’t know what I have. Tranny is a five speed, all I have read on 81 none have a 5 speed. Are there any marking I need to look for to see what they Are.
Any suggestions, Thanks

When I ran the T-5 , SynchroMesh made a huge difference in a good way. 85/90 gear oil in the rest

:agree:

You don't want ATF or 85W-90 gear oil in that T-5 or a T-4 .
If you run a clutch type LSD in the diffs-Make sure the additive is in the gear oil.

This are my choices for the tranny, any advice will be great, I’m doing the change tomorrow. Should I use this synchromesh fluid, the Valvoline or the royal purple. Thanks in advance

Ok I got 4 quarts of it, I’m going to do this maybe tomorrow or on the weekend, It does not start now for some unknown reason so. Can’t get it get to warm up. On the Transfer Case and differentials I’m going to use regular 80w-90 oil.
