Good morning gentlemen... and ladies.
Been a while since I've been on here.
Transmission went out in my jeep about a year ago and we just now got it replaced and back on tr road.. for now anyways. I'm almost certain the Transmission I put back in it is a T-176 , 4 speed forward plus reverse which is all the way to the right and down, with a straight shifter.
I know it's been beaten to death on here along with other jeep forums, but I'd just like to make sure I'm not missing something here.

If in fact the Transmission is a T-176 , then I will need a 80w-90 GL4 gear oil?
The Transfer Case , front end and rear end will take a 80w-90 GL5 gear oil?
If not could someone please tell me what to use?

Also I haven't had much luck finding this info on the net so I will ask it here and hopefully someone can point me in the right direction.

So I will know how much to buy can y'all please tell me the capacity of the Transmission , Transfer Case , front end, and rear end?

The jeep is a 1982 CJ7
I had a hell of a time when I first bought it trying to work the bugs out of the carburetor, finally got it to running right, and before I could change all of my fluids the Transmission went out on me.

I apologize in advance for beating a dead horse, because I know it's been discussed several times. But most of the threads I've ran across are several years old with conflicting information.

I greatly appreciate any and all help y'all can give.

Thanks guys. Do y'all have any idea how much each takes by any chance? I know I need to fill till it runs out the fill plug, but I don't want to buy way more than I need or not enough

Thanks guys, one more question. I've been trying to get some info on the sta lube from NAPA that is GL4 rated, but I'm not finding my answer.
It seems like Sta Lube is about all I can get that isn't synthetic, but with my jeep being Limited slip will I need an additive with sta lube or does it already have the Limited slip additive in it? I've tried reading the label on the pictures that I've found on the net, but I can't see them clear enough to make it out.
 
Thanks for he info guys. I changed my fluids today, pretty sure I'll have to add some more. I might not have had everything as level as I thought it was. Pumped fluid in till it started to run out the fill plug on the Transmission and Transfer Case . It was just a little less than a gallon is what I used between the two, which is about a quart and a half less than what the fluid capacities are.
I'll be leaving for work Wednesday morning and have a lot to get done around the house before I leave, hopefully I'll get time to check it before Wednesday morning but if not it'll be first on the to do list when I get back in.

Yes sir I will. It'll be about 2 1/2 weeks before I can mess with it again and check the fluids but I'll sure let y'all know what I come up with.
I've read so many different threads and topics here lately it's kinda hard to keep up with whts what, but seems like I remember seeing a gentleman saying a gallon is what his took to fill both up.

When everyone says to jack it up and get it as level as possible I'm assuming they are talking about making sure the Transmission is level. Is this correct?
 
Get the Jeep sitting level, say in your garage and you're GTG. :chug:
