Gas tank conversion

HI, has anybody done a conversion on the gas tank? Im thinkin there might be a stock tank on a car that would fit a CJ5 instead of payin the big money for a new one?? also thinkin of adding the TBI at the same time..

How big of a tank are you looking for?I've seen some pricey ones but the poly tanks arent too bad. Heck, I scored a 21 gallon poly tank last year for a $100 on CL.

From the factory most CJs had 15 gallon tanks but some had 21 gallons.
You can swap our yours for a 21. I have been thinking of doing this too. The gas tank is polyethylene but the gas tank has a steel skid plate. Most gas tank conversions have extensions for the skid plate. Check out this link:

You can see how this one uses extensions to hold the 15 gallon skid plate under the 21 gallon tank.
$260 for everything but you might find it cheaper.

That looks really nice but I have a buddy who thought maybe a chevy caprice had a tank that might slide up in the cj. but i havnt been able to come up with anybody that has tried it yet...
