Gearing Frustrations

Gearing Frustrations
Thanks for all the input guys. I know that a different/new Transmission is out and I am not looking for super-super low gear. Probably the biggest thing is being able to use 5th gear(and all the other gears) for taking it on a 3.5 hr drive to the cabin in northern Pa(up and over mountains at road speeds) and having the options of pulling a trailer while I am at it. Right now I can barely get over a mountain in 3rd gear.

How much axel modification are we talking if I find a 4 cyl. YJ w/4.10s or is that out of the question??

I would strongly recommend 4.56 over 4.10 unless you have a v8.

it has to be a cj, the pumpkin is on the wrong side in the yj.

:agree:

Its also a vaccum dis connect axle in alot of cases. And the rear axle would be a Dana 35. You dont want to get near that Craptastic axle.
