Grinding noise in Right Rear AMC 20
Pruman
Jeeper
HI...
Searched thorough 15 pages of threads and didn't see exactly what I am experiencing. I have seen several things common to what has led up to this post.
I have a 79 CJ7 with an AMC20 . I put one piece axles in a while ago (Probably Crown or some MFG similar). Currently, when I drive it and specifically and only when I make a LEFT turn from a stop or just creeping I get a LESS than 2 second grinding noise, then all is good. I have noticed probably 2 times when I hit a large bump at higher speeds, it happens but only for a split second. I took the differential cover off and there was no obvious damage; however, I am curious if there is something specific (measurements of some type) I can check. Please take note this ONLY happens when turning LEFT and not right, which seems to make it when the right rear side is loaded? Any advice would be appreciated.
Thanks!
