I have the larger coil (MSD Blaster) larger plug wires, recommended plugs and Cap/ Rotor installed. Has anyone used the Summit CDI Ignition? I have remanufactured distributor installed as well. Do I NEED to upgrade the distributor? any advice would be appreciated.

The OEM distributor has a hard time keeping the spark where it's supposed to go. Having the distributor rebuilt won't help. The issue is the cap is too small. The spark can jump to the other terminals. This becomes a bigger problem when you increase the ignition voltage such as adding an aftermarket ignition.
To rectify this you need to do the TeamRush upgrade. Check out this link:http://www.jeep-cj.com/forums/f2/teamrush-ignition-upgrade-11416/
It will help a stock ignition but it's a must do if you plan on adding a capacitive discharge ignition.

I have installed the larger cap and rotor along with the wires and plugs (recommended Napa parts from the Team Rush thread) I also installed the coil. The Jeep starts so much easer now, its incredible the difference. I've also rid myself of the Carter BBD with the addition of a GRONK built MC2100. I'm just looking to get maximum performance with minimal $$$. This forum has helped me out so much. without it my "project" would not be nearly as far along.

Nice picture. I like how you have it mounted. Thanks for the reply I'm still debating in my head weather or not to use the MSD or the Summit box. My 80 runs pretty good right now with just what I've done so far ( bigger cap/rotor, recommended plugs larger dia. wires, and the MSD blaster coil).

I was planning on doing the stealth HEI then came across a local guy (same street) with that msd for $75. All the wires were cut but I can make some decent weather pack connectors so I grabbed it.
