Heater hoses Question
You have two hoses that go to the heater take one off and the other one remove from it from the heater and hook it to where you removed the first hose at the motor.
It seems that somewhere in the part I've heard that the engine intake uses the return water to regulate intake heat. It's a very dim. memory, I could be wrong.
On some of the AMC 258 i6 / 4.2l engines they run the return heater hose through the intake manifold to heat the gasses in colder weather. I believe the AMC 304 doesn't.
So just run a hose from the water pump to the intake and all will be good.
Would it make any difference in the coolant temperature, being that the hose going from the water pump to the back of the intake is a shorter route than the original route thru the heater....that being longer ?
Please plug the dang holes and be done with it.The heater hose has absolutley nothing to do with the engine cooling other than the cooling from the heater core. You can live with out that. Most systems have a heat control valve that shuts off the flow of coolant to the heater core when it is not in use.Really.mike s.
