OK...trying to install my new Rugged Ridge windshield hinge light mounts on my '79 CJ5 . When I took the old screws out I cannot get the mount to line up...that would be the end of it...I'll just put the original screws back in and try another mount later...but the holes don't line up any more. Am I an idiot and FUBAR'd? It shouldn't be this way, right?

The box was open when I got it - no directions. Just 2 mounts and screws. How do I get my windshield lined up again?

Thanks!

can you put screws in one or both sides of the hinge? This may also be thought of as the top and bottom of the hinge. to re phrase, can you screw the hinge to the body, with out the windshield? or to the windshield with out the body??

I put on new RR windsheild hinges and the holes lined up really crappy, I did some rat tail filling to make them work but what should have been easy was not!
They must have bad jigs or?

now he can't get the old ones on as well, so the plot thickens.

The front facing part of the hinge I can attach (but there are some moving female holes inside the frame that have to match up. My biggest issue is the side (facing the drivers door)...the holes there just do not line up and I cannot move the windshield enough to get them lined up.

I figured this would be soooo easy....

I'm gonna scap the RR mounts - I just want my hinge back! Thanks guys - keep the info coming.

It's like they have there own bolt pattern? it's very similar to Jeeps but not quite right, don't they try the parts to see if they work?

Thanks guys. I finally got them on. The secret was to not remove all the screws at once...guess the windshield sags unsupported?? For the passenger side I removed all the originals 1 at a time replacing them with a portion of the new ones to hold everything in place then put the mount on one screw at a time so the windshield always had some support.

Maybe that is common sense, but directions would have helped. Hope this helps some others.
