How do you unplug wire harness at firewall?

Should be simple, right? I just don't want to break it, do you pry on the top and bottom to release it?
You shouldn't have to pry. If it's really that stuck, you might try using a small flat head screw driver to get started separating the engine and headlight harnesses from the junction.
All you have to do is remove that center bolt from the engine compartment side, and then pull the wiring junction straight out. If you're looking at the firewall from the engine compartment, the junction that houses engine harness is the larger piece of plastic that plugs in. So you want to pull on that part of it. The headlight harness junction slides into the engine harness junction, if that makes sense. Hopefully these pics explain it better than I am doing:
