I'm putting in a new T-5 in my '82 Scrambler.
Was wondering if anyone had any tips to give to avoid any unforeseen problems.
I'm confident that the job shouldn't be too stressful.

My only concerning in taking the shifter from the old Transmission and installing it correctly once the new one is in.

Thanks

I've never done one of those specifically but the most important thing to have is a good jack/strap/blocks/second set of hands/etc. to make getting it in and out comfortable. You may end up jacking on the tcase as they tend to be heavier.

I'd def. recommend either just replacing or taking a look at the clutch while you are in there. Rear main as well.

Is the shifter the type that has a plate that comes out with it?

If so, just use a nice thin layer of Ultra Black RTV after cleaning the surfaces really well with brake cleaner. You'll see where the shift forks go once the old one comes out.

Good luck
