Down to the small, but nagging problems. When I installed my Dana 20 Transfer Case the seals were meticulously changed. With the advice of Rob at Willys Works the plate was lightly leveled on a bench belt grinder to make sure the area around the bolt holes were level. To prevent warping the plate the bolts were torqued properly.
So, a couple years later I've got a pretty decent leak around the plate. No question about it the plate needs to come off and a new gasket either needs to be made or bought. With the horrible quality of available gaskets this time I think I'll be making my own. Is there a reliable way to stop this sort of leak or is it going to be another ever few year maintenance job?
