You need to retune it for high alt.

What you need to look at is actual internal metering for altitude, not fuel delivery. Higher altitudes are leaner on air and humidity, and a properly tuned carb will require a jet change to figure it out. Some people install a high CFM aftermarket carb on their engines, which will only make matters worse due to the greater fuel delivery, and the engine not being able to draw enough oxygen rich air to achieve a full burn on compression stroke. I don't know If a flow restrictor will deliver the same results.

If your trying to go from the beach to the mt. peaks, thats the way to go.EFI will fix it

I had a buddy that used to bring another carb with him. He had the swap down to a science.

fuel injection would be the way to go if you plan on being up and down or it would be a pita to go thru changing stuff all the time.
