First, where the heck is the tranny dipstick on my cj? Been looking and cant seem to find it. Second, got some serious white smoke from the cj 2 days ago and now I can smell fresh gas when driving. Smoke hasnt appeared since but something doesnt seem right.

Only automatics have a dipstick to check the oil there is a plug on the side you pull and the oil should be up to the hole. White smoke is water blue is oil and black is gas.

Tom, where is the plug at and what could cause the water & white smoke?

I'm not sure on a T-5 but on my T-176 it was on the right side about where the shifter is down on the side. Are you still getting smoke or was it just that one time? And was it alot or a little?

It was a decent amount of smoke but nothing since.

Your fill plug on the T-5 is on the passenger side about half way up the tranny. It should be a square pipe plug.
DO NOT unscrew the large Torx bolt on the drivers side of the tranny.

On the white smoke- Have you checked your coolant level and to see if it is contaminated?

Coolant level is good and it looks fine.

If it only did it that one time and the coolant level is fine I wouldn't worry about it. And as for the smell of gas you may have a leak somewhere check all you lines and fittings.
