Well decided to drive the CJ to work today about 40 miles round trip. Very impressed with it , it ran great the hole time. What really impressed me was that this motor sat for 2 yrs not even turned over once during the 2 yrs.

That first trip is a little nerve wrecking. Mine had been setting for 8yrs when I rescued it. Really didn't expect the engine to run. It impressed me by not only running well,it did not need alot of attention to preform well. That first trip,{ i keep mine at work} from work to home, about 15 miles, had me puckered. But it went well. Can't say much for the dry rotten tires, but the engine ran like a little singer.

:chug: :chug: :chug: I miss being able to do that

I live in the Sacramento area and I purchased my 1979 CJ7 last year from a guy in Phoenix AZ. I flew down and drove it home, 802 miles. Not having a opportunity to test drive it, I was a little nervous but the CJ run flawlessly. I didn't push it much past 60 mph and had to stop a few times to catch some sleep. It took me about 18 hours to get home........It was fun though.

Funny how the 1st. trip is full of anxiety.
Something about CJs, it's tough to relax while driving.
Even my dog can't lay down.
I took the top off last Sunday,& it hasn't stopped raining since.
If it's still Raining on Monday, i'm gunna unpuss myself,& drive her anyway.
96 mile round trip commute.
Is anyone having summer yet?

my first drive to work i had the daughter with me and doing 55 mph the soft top came flying up cause the front of it that goes into the rail rotted. scared the :censored: out of both of us. luckly i had a roll of duct tape in the jeep. looked like a total redneck driving into town with the front of the top taped down lol.

Nice visual there! Glad everyone's ok.:chug:
I hope your daughter still thinks you are cool.

Man, drove it to work again tonight and ran great the only thing is it was raining and my wipers don't like staying on the windshield. I'm ordering those springs in morning.

Drove my 85 CJ after it hasn't been road much in 6 years. Put in over a hundred miles today and ran awesome. The Rough Country lift I put in rides nice. The only complaint I have is the 273 gears, I don't use 5 gear because it really lugs down and is not responsive. I think once I change to gears to 355 or 373 I will use 5 gear more and it will be a better ride. I am enjoying the torque of the AMC 258 i6 / 4.2l , but I miss my top end speed I had in my AMC 304 . I will enjoy the AMC 258 i6 / 4.2l for a couple of years before I swap it out for the AMC 304 .

Cheers, Brian
